Obelisks

From the beginning obelisks have been associated with the sun, power, strength and time.

Early Egyptian obelisks were usually built as a single stone or rock monolith structure.

Modern day obelisks were built for different reasons and uses requiring adaptation to today's building practices of individual stone or block type structures.

The obelisk was first named by the Greeks, and were always found to be similar in shape. A usually tall four sided monument. The architectural obelisks were often built in pairs.These structures were tapering or pyramidal in shape protruding from the earth upward toward the heavens.
